Opened in 2010 by Josie Forster, DANCE102 is a boutique performing arts school dedicated to teaching at the highest quality, innovating continually, inspiring students to realize their potential as a performer.

We bring together an elite team of Sydney’s finest dance teachers in an environment where young dancers can develop and explore their passion for the performing arts.

We teach the skills required for success as a modern dancer, from technique and flexibility through to strength and perseverance, in 5 purpose built and fully equipped studios in Sydney’s St Leonards, located just 100 meters from the train station.

In our 9 years of business we are proud to boast an exceptional track record of success at local and National Eisteddfod competitions, and we have placed within the top 3 in the National Dance Championship finals in each of our years of business – winning on several occasions!

Students of Dance102 have successfully auditioned for the ITP Australian Ballet and we have several of our talented performers currently appearing in major shows and musicals here in Sydney.

Aside from all our competitive success, over half of our timetable is for dancers who just want to have fun and learn to dance in a safe and welcoming environment. We are so proud of the spirit we have developed in our school. Our students don’t just have fun! – They respect and care for each other and proudly represent the school and themselves, whether at competition or just feeling the love of dance in their daily classes.

Our syllabus includes Performance Teams, RAD Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, Hip Hop, Acrobatics, Musical Theatre, Tap, Singing and our very own KTJ skills class.

We provide solo tutoring for developing performers and a range of group classes based on both skill and age levels, for students from 3-18 years.

Josie began dancing at an early age after completing her higher school certificate at Newtown Performing Arts High School, receiving an HSC honour roll; she then studied at Zoop Performing Arts, Dance World 301 Melbourne and Victorian College of the Arts.

Josie was a member of the Chimera Contemporary Dance Company performing. Josie has danced with the Sydney Dance Company, as well as dancing at the 2000 Olympic Games, USA Dance Tour, Sydney Dance Festival and The Parsons Dance Company from NYC.

Josie has choreographed award-winning performances throughout her career. Her Choreography has seen students winning competition titles throughout local, regional and National competitions. Josie has trained dancers that are now working as professionals in the industry and has a reputation as a highly accomplished choreographer and studio director.
